Audi have announced that the all-new A8 will come with mild-hybrid powertrain as standard.
This marks the first time in Audi’s history that a model will come with an electrified drivetrain as standard.
The combustion engine will be paired with a water cooled 48-volt electrical system with a belt alternator starter.

A belt alternator starter starts the combustion engine immediately when the car needs to accelerate after slowing down at a roundabout for instance.
All-new A8 can enter a noiseless coasting mode from 34 mph to 99 mph and can then coast with zero emissions for up to 40 seconds with the engine turned completely off.
Start/stop is active from 14mph with the new A8 being able to distinguish various traffic situations.
The all-new Audi A8 will have its world debut at the first Audi Summit in Barcelona on 11th July.
