We’ve driven enough press cars in our time to know that drinks in cup holders can be a mucky affair. The amount of coffee and tea that gets into and down the edges when drinks are spilt on the move seems endless. Once it’s there it can be a nightmare to remove, which is why so many of our test cars are just a sticky mess when it comes to cup holders.
WeatherTech have a solution, CarCoasters.
What is it?
Made from a TPE friendly material the soft and squishy CarCoasters sit inside your normal cup holders, keeping them clean and drip free. Oh, and they also stop rattles.
They measure in a smidge under 8cm with a 1.5 cm lip, just make sure your cup holders are girthy enough to take them.
Thanks to being TPE eco-friendly the CarCoasters are washable and dishwasher safe, there’s also a moulded handle to help prise them out of your cup holder.
Made with a textured and ribbed pattern they make sure your drink won’t get stuck.
What’s it like?
One thing you need to make sure before you buy these is that your cup holders can take them. They fitted in some of our cars, others there was no chance, it would be good if there were two different sizes available to buy. Especially when cars in the American market feature huge cup holders compared to our European sizes.
Using them in the 207 they worked well, I’ve always been a bit fanatical when it comes to leaky drinks in my cars. There’s nothing worse than having to dig out dried on tea from the bobbled surface of a cup holder. It’s either that or try and drive while keeping a beady eye on fluid coming out of the tiny mouth piece from your Starbucks cup.
The CarCoasters are easy to use and keep your car minty fresh, instead of a grubby health hazard.
Where can I get one?
Once again WeatherTech sell the CarCoasters direct from their European website, the company are based out of Parma in Italy and all orders arrive within 3-4 days.
At £11.94 it makes the CarCoasters a great add on purchase, otherwise the postage costs can be a little high for single items like this.
