As with Cataclean, we often get a lot of questions in our chat box regarding Redex and how best to use it. So we thought we’d write a short article covering the most common questions as well as providing the instructions from the manufacturer.
Redex instructions
- Fill up your tank to full (petrol or diesel)
- Remove seal from the bottle – fully, to make sure none of the seal ends up in your fuel tank
- Undo your fuel filler cap
- Pour in one dose of Redex – The size of Redex bottle you have will determine the amount to pour in. A single dose will treat a 50 litre tank
- Done
Can I use more than one bottle of Redex?
It’s only recommended to use a single dose of Redex, if you’re fuel tank is bigger than 50 litres still stick to one dose.
How often should you put Redex in your car?
Yes, it’s recommended to use Redex fuel system cleaner often to keep your injectors and fuel lines free of deposits. Use it as part of your ongoing vehicle maintenance – like washing your car or checking the tyre pressures. Around every 3,000 miles is ideal.
Can I use Redex in a diesel?
Yes, they have a specific Diesel version.
Does Redex protect against E10 fuel?
Redex is fully compatible with E10 fuel and they’ve recently updated their formula to protect against possible corrosion from using E10 fuel, so it can be used in all petrol vehicles.
Can Redex be used in a hybrid car?
Yes, Redex is fully compatible and safe to use in hybrid vehicles.
Redex bottle sizes explained
Redex comes in different bottle sizes, so depending on the size you have you may have one treatment/dose or multiple. It should clearly state on the bottle how many doses there are, and the ‘Redex One Shot’ is a single dose.
- Redex 250ml – This gives you two doses/treatments
- Redex 500ml – This gives you four doses/treatments
- Redex One Shot 90ml – This gives you a single dose/treatment
They also sell multi-packs, sometimes refered to as ‘boot packs’.
