Every so often a car manufacturer or high end designer brand will team up with a phone maker to create something unique and special, rarely does this hit the mark but after recently attending the Lamborghini Super Trofeo round at Silverstone we found that Oppo have.
Lamborghini are pretty selective when it comes to licensing their brand, so to find a collab with an up and coming Chinese phone manufacturer was surprising.
You’ve probably never heard of Oppo, but they’re in the same league as Huawei. In fact they’re at the same stage in Europe and the UK that Huawei were around five years ago. Gaining pace, their range of premium phones have some pretty cool unique features, like hidden cameras.
Their Find X slides up to reveal a hidden camera at the front and rear, another of their phones has a pop up selfie camera, both are totally different to what the market is currently offering and help to keep the lenses scratch free.
But let’s talk about the Lamborghini edition of the Find X. Beneath its glossy rear cover sits carbon fibre which peeks through at the edges when light catches it.
The raging bull logo sits just beneath the outer glossy finish making it look as though it’s suspended between the body and case. It feels svelte in hand, classy and not overdone. And the clip on rear case (featured below) is finished in matte carbon with gold accents.
Switching it on and the custom firmware looks gorgeous, hexagonal icons throughout with touches of orange set against the black. Underneath all this prettyness sits some seriously powerful tech, this thing can charge at nearly 50W, that’s about the same power as a laptop charger packs. That means a full charge can be achieved in just 35 minutes.
It’s also lightening quick, like Lamborghini quick…thanks to 8GB of ram and the latest Snapdragon 845 processor.
Sadly the Oppo Lamborghini phone isn’t out for sale here in the UK, so you won’t be able to get your grubby mitts on it, or the lovely box it comes in, nor the customised wireless earbuds.
You can however import one from such sites as Aliexpress, but expect to pay near the £1,000 mark for the privilege.
