So, January already. New Year, new(ish) seasons. We start however as most years do, in South America.
2nd January – 14th January
The Dakar (Not actually contested in Dakar) Rally. Once again squads of cars, trucks, bikes and buggies will be braving the treacherous terrain of South America.
Many familiar rally stars will be in attendance along with drivers from circuit racing as well. The Coronel twins Tom and Tim, Tom better known for his touring car outings while former Indy Car and NASCAR stalwart Robbie Gordon should also be in competition.
Britain Harry Hunt will be looking to improve on his 10th overall last year as he switches from Mini to Peugeot for ’17. Eurosport along with the official app and team / driver social media feeds & channels will bring the action to you.
6th-8th January
Isola in the French Alps hosts the latest instalment of the 2016/17 Andros Trophy, Motors TV brings the action while, also on the channel the Asian Le Mans Series continues from Thailand’s Buriram circuit.
13th-15th January
The 2017 24Hr Series kicks off via Motors and Radio Le Mans with the Dubai 24 hour race while back in France Serre Chevallier hosts the next instalment of Andros action (Motors TV).
Those at home (UK) itching to get up close and personal to the cars ‘n stars themselves should head to the NEC, Birmingham for the annual Autosport International exhibition, everything from F1, WEC, BTCC right down to club racing, stock cars, historic racing and a live action show awaits attendees on the 14th and 15th.
20th-22nd January
Motors continues with Andros coverage, this time from Lans En Vercors. The Asian leg of the regional LMS series closes for this portion of the year with the final round at Sepang, Malaysia. Motors and Radio Le Mans should cover.
If French ice racing and the epic Dakar* trek isn’t enough for you fear not. The WRC roars off from Monte Carlo for the 1st round of the ’17 season. BT & Channel 5 should give live and highlight packages.
28th-29th January
The ’17 Andros series rounds off with the Super Besse event at Puy De Dome (Motors) while the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship begins with a big one.
Yes, The Daytona 24 Hour plenty of action and many many familiar names joining the crews for one of the season’s biggest events. Radio Le Mans should bring sound and pictures.
