Mercedes have revealed their first ever pickup called the X-Class.
The X-Class provides the typical functionality and robustness of a pickup but manages to put the premium Mercedes stamp with the design, comfort and driving dynamics.
Whilst being a completely new model for Mercedes, it’s still has the familiar Mercedes style with the large star centrally placed between the radiator grille slats and the bold headlights.
The rear seems to lose the premium look but has a clean design.
Interior gets the widest choice of its class with three trim parts for the cockpit, six seat covers and two colours for the roof lining.
They’ll also be choice to add a styling bar, side bar, canopy and a range of covers.
X-Class will come with Mercedes me connect which allows owners to connect to their vehicle via smartphone.
Models will start with the ‘Pure’ aimed at being the ultimate workhorse, the ‘Progressive’ improves the quality and comfort and the range topping ‘Power’ more for the style than substance.
The X-Class will be launched with a diesel X 220 d producing 163 hp, X 250 d producing 190 hp and a petrol engine in selected markets. A V6 diesel will come mid-2018 .
4MATIC will come standard along with low-range gearing and an optional differential lock on the rear axle. Safety tech include active brake assist, lane keeping assist and traffic sign assist.
The Mercedes X-Class will be launched November 2017 in Europe and will be priced from around £33,000.
