We recently heard that a full blown production BMW i8 had been put on display at BMWi Park Lane, London – we simply had to get a closer look!
This is THE first i8 in the country, unfortunately we weren’t allowed inside to get any interior shots. Not even the staff at Park Lane are allowed to open the doors!
Previously the BMW i8 concept that was used in the last Mission Impossible film was on display here.
The model on display was simply stunning, in Crystal White with BMW i Blue highlights. Sitting on 20″ BMW i Turbine 625 alloy wheels, inside – from what we could see – was the Carpo Amido trim.
When the BMW i8 goes on sale around July next year it will cost £99,845, order books are open and currently 100 customers have placed deposits.
Front wheels will be powered by a 129 BHP electric motor, whilst a 228 BHP 1.5 litre 3 cylinder twin turbo petrol engine powers the rear wheels. This will enable the i8 to hit 62 in 4.4 seconds, and on to a top speed of 155 MPH. It has emissions of just 59g/km.
We would like to thank BMWi Park Lane for their hospitality.
