Ford have unveiled the all-new Ford Fiesta at a dedicated “Go Further” event in Cologne, Germany.

The exterior design hasn’t strayed too far from its predecessor, it has taken a simpler look with straighter lines, a bonnet with no centre bulge and sleeker wraparound headlights

Measuring 71mm longer and 12mm wider to help give the Fiesta a more premium appearance. There’s the usual shoulder line and a belt line that starts from the headlights.

At the back of the new Fiesta sees new horizontal rear lights that further enhance the Fiesta’s wider stance.

There’s a new interior design which is more spacious and ergonomic,  it features more soft-touch materials. Customers can personalise their Fiesta with a new range of individualisation options.

These include decorative bits for the central instrument cluster, passenger instrument panel, door pulls and rear-view mirror cap. There’s options of Race Red, Yellow, Bohai Bay Mint, Deep Impact Blue or Chrome Copper.

Ford have implemented easier to use controls with the number of buttons on the centre console reduced by almost half. Most of connectivity and entertainment controls have been relocated to the 8-inch touchscreen.

Rear seat passengers now get 16mm more knee room with slimmer backed seats which offer better side support.

The tailgate on the Fiesta is wider for easier access to the boot, the glovebox is 20 per cent larger and theres a 1-litre media bin in the centre console.

Fiesta will be offered with the Vignale model for the first time. They’ll also be a Fiesta Titanium, Fiesta ST-Line and a Fiesta Active crossover, that will the start of a new Active model to be rolled out across the Ford range in the coming years.

There’s a wealth of driver assistance features including Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Active Park Assist with Perpendicular Parking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Auto High Beam, Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Adjustable Speed Limited, Blind Spot System, Driver Alert amongst many others.

All-new Fiesta is also the first Ford to come with a ten speaker B&O PLAY Sound System. Tech also on offer includes SYNC 3 along with Bluetooth connectivity, two USB ports, integrated CD player and DAB radio.

The new Fiesta will come with the award winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine and is offered with 100PS, 125PS and 140PS. A new six-speed manual gearbox which helps towards the lower CO2 emissions of 97g/km. There’s an optional six-speed automatic gearbox for the 100PS engine with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

The 120PS 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine has expected emissions from 82g/km and will also come with the new six-speed manual.

There’s also a 1.1 litre petrol, similar to the EcoBoost engine. Fuel efficiency has been helped with Auto‑Start‑Stop technology offered on all engines and a Active Grille Shutter for the 1.0-litre EcoBoost and 85 PS 1.5-litre TDCi engines.
