VW will be announcing the New Beetle Cabriolet at the LA Auto Show. Following in a long line of topless bugs with the first one being launched in 1949 however this model is only the third generation.
Main points from the press release:
- Soft top that folds flat
- Opens and closes entirely automatically as standard
- 10 seconds from open to closed
- 225 litre boot
- Active roll-over protection system: two concealed extendable modules, fitted behind the rear bench seat
- Seven engines available, the same as the current coupé range
- It will go on sale Spring 2013
