Love F1? Big Hamilton fan? Well don’t we have the suave office chair of your dreams right here. Noblechairs, the well-known gaming seat manufacturer have teamed up with Mercedes-AMG Petronas to licence and then create a very special edition of their ‘Epic’ gaming chair.
Coming in at £349.90 it sits exactly £50 more than the rest of the more generic looking Epic chair line up, a small price to pay for such a unique piece of office furniture.
What is it?
An ergonomically designed gaming chair that’s also superbly suited to office life.
You also get neck and lumbar pillows as standard, adjustable ‘4D’ armrests and smatterings of Petronas green all over.
How?
Opening the rather huge box the Epic chair is semi assembled, but set aside 20 minutes to get it build the rest yourself. The box weighs in at 30kg and measures in at 86 x 70 x 38.3cm, so make sure the delivery guy can help you through the door with it.
Assembly is super easy, just follow the instructions. You’re given all the tools you need in the box, with one or two spare bolts just in case you lose one.
A steel frame supports the backrest and seat, which is then covered with cold cured foam, ergonomically shaped to help you maintain a decent posture.
All this is wrapped in faux leather, which feels soft to the touch and doesn’t look too fake as some cheaper chairs can. There’s also a brushed aluminium base which is unique to the Mercedes-AMG Petronas edition.
It will support up to 120kg and can recline to 135 degrees.
What’s it like?
In terms of price, £350 isn’t at all bad as far as decent office chairs go, you can spend thousands on something like a Herman Miller.
Over a week’s worth of testing I found the chair to be comfortable and supportive, I didn’t need the extra cushions, and the strap system they use kind of detracts from the overall look of the chair. But they’re there if you need them.
Those ‘4D’ armrests swivel and move up and down to get the precise height, however they do feel a little cheap compared to the rest of the chair. Ideally some more faux carbon fibre material and Petronas green stitching wouldn’t have gone amiss.
Reclining is easy with the handle mounted just below and to your right, and the height is naturally adjustable as all office chairs are.
Attention to detail and finish are high, the stitching is particularly nice, along with the embroidery on the headrest both front and back.
Sadly, those nice silvery inserts at the top, they’re plastic…not metal as you’d hope or think.
Where can I get one?
Currently the only place you can buy the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Epic Gaming Chair is from Overclockers here in the UK.
You get a two-year warranty with it and the ‘Epic’ has won best gaming chair in 2017 and 2019, so you know it’s the best money can buy.
