- 590 litre capacity boot
- New model is 90mm longer and 45mm wider
- Wheelbase is 108mm longer
- Front Assistant/emergency braking function

- Multicollision-braking (automatic brake actuation)
- Crew Protect Assistant (securing of the vehicle in an accident situation)
- Driver Activity Assistant (fatigue detection)
- Up to nine airbags
- 1.6 TDI/81 kW achieves CO2 emissions of only 89 g/km and consumes a mere 3.4 litres of diesel per 100 km
- Four petrol and four diesel engines to choose from
- Manual and DSG boxes are availble
- All wheel drive version in the works, plus an RS model
- New octavia is up to 102 kilogrammes lighter
- Adaptive Cruise Assistant, which automatically maintains a pre-set distance to the car ahead
- Intelligent Light Assistant will switch to high beam and back automatically
- Automatic Parking Assistant makes parking the Octavia easier
- Driving Mode Selection enables drivers to set certain vehicle driving characteristics at the push of the button
