As teased last week there is a new Impreza in town.
In sedan and estate body styles they naturally hold the hallmark Boxer engine, symmetrical all wheel drive, and a new safety system called EyeSight.
The new safety tech uses stereo colour cameras to monitor the road ahead and includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure and Sway Warning, plus a Lane Keep Assist function. Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are also available.
In a recent survey of collision involving Subaru’s in Japan that there was a 61% reduction in crashes for cars equipped with the EyeSight system. A reduction was also seen in rear end collisions by 84% and 49% fewer pedestrian casualties.
The Impreza has grown in length and girth by 41mm and 38mm respectively with a 25mm longer wheelbase. It has however dropped 10mm in overall height.
Unfortunately estate form is being debated for a European launch.
