One notable incident involved Reviver’s R plates, where cybersecurity researchers successfully hacked into the system, gaining unauthorised access to user information and the ability to track vehicles equipped with digital number plates. This breach underscores the risks associated with digital plates and raises questions about the robustness of their security measures.
Privacy concerns
There is a view that digital number plates can lead to an invasion of privacy. The ability of these plates to track and monitor a vehicle’s movements and location can be seen as a potential avenue for government surveillance.
