2017 Kia Soul to get 201 bhp engine

Kia have announced details of of the updates to the 2017 Soul.

Updates include a new 201 bhp 1.6-litre T-GDI petrol engine which makes it the most powerful Soul ever.

Its engine is taken from the pro_cee’d GT and produces a 0-60 mph time of 7.5 seconds. Top speed is 122 mph and produces 156 g/km of CO2 emissions.

The 201 bhp engine drives the front wheels through a new 7-speed double-clutch transmission. This will also let drivers switch between Normal, Eco and Sport modes which also changes the steering feel.

The Soul has also received minor tweaks to its exterior and interior design.

There’s a bolder front bumper with an air intake grille design, 10-spoke 18-inch aluminium alloys and twin exhaust pipes.

You can also opt for bi-function HID headlights, LED daytime running lights and newly-designed fog lamps and reflectors at the back.

T-GDI models will come with red highlights on the front bumper and side sills.

Inside sees a ‘distinctive’ cabin colour scheme along with black cloth and leather upholstery and orange stitching. Design also sees a ‘D-shaped’ steering wheel and orange highlights throughout the cabin.

Tech sees HMI (human-machine interface) which comes with a 5, 7 or 8-inch colour touchscreen paired with visual navigation system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The upgraded Soul and Soul 1.6 T-GDI will be available in the UK from late 2016 and will debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show next week.
