Mercedes have announced the B-Class mini-MPV is getting a mid range nip-tuck including new tech and engines.
The B changes little on the outside, still vaguely resembling a small van, basically is now has the standard Merc front bumper, some reshaped lights, a new grille and bumper.
Inside the B gets a larger infotainment screen, still floating above the dash rather than integrated, a slight shuffle of the dials, and you can now choose from 12 ambient lighting settings.
Under the bonnet buyers now have a wider range of engines with a brand new petrol motor joining the existing lineup.
That 1.6 litre engine (helpfully as usual from Merc named the B200) produces 154 bhp and 184 lb ft of torque, which, pumped through the front wheels, will see 136 mph and 8.4 seconds to 62.
The rest of the lineup of four diesel and three other petrol engines remain from the outgoing model and will be joined by a plug-in electric version in 2015.
Winning the economy race is the B180 CDI Eco which manages 78.5mpg and 94g/km CO2 emissions.
The base B-Class, the B180, which comes with a 120 bhp petrol motor, starts the range at £22,575.
Behind the wheel the B gets new and upgraded safety kit. Merc’s Collision Prevention Assist Plus auto braking system comes in while the Attention Assit’s operating window now covers up to 124 mph.
It’s on sale now, with first cars rolling onto your drive in November.
