Ferrari launched the spider version of the 488 last night in London, with a host of ‘celebrities’ I had to Google.
The 488 Spider features a retractable hard top around which the rest of the car was designed and developed.
First debuted at Frankfurt the 3.9 litre twin turbo V8 pumps out 660 BHP and 760 Nm of torque. That hard top roof is actually 25kg lighter than the fabric roof used on the old F430 spider.
Overall the 488 spider is 50kg heavier than the coupe, but is still 10kg lighter than the older 458 spider.
Due to the cars construction the drop top keeps the same torsional rigidity as the coupe.
Ferrari have also opted for a glass rear wind stop which can even be lowered when the roof is up, allowing the drive to hear that full V8 goodness.
Expect it to tip the bank balance at around £200k.
The list of ‘celebs’ paid to be there and photographed sitting in the car included:
- Mikill Pane
- Tallia Storm
- Vogue Williams
- Lucy Watson
- James Dunmore
- Kara Rose
- Jamie Campbell Bower
- Craig McCinlay
- Becky Tong
