Supagard Bird & Bug Remover

4 Nov , 2018

If you didn’t know bird poop is highly acidic. Even leaving it to sit on your car for minutes can eat into, and mar the lacquer, leave it for days, weeks or months and it can irreparably eat through your paint.

I always carry some sort of spray with me for this exact reason, whether it’s some quick detailer or a specific bird & bug remover. After testing out the Supagard PH Neutral Shampoo, I thought the next logical step was to see what their bird & bug remover was like.

What is it?

Supagard have developed a spray that helps neutralise the acidity in bird lime. It does so by spraying a foamy mousse that rehydrates the dried on droppings so they can be easily wiped off.

How?

Black magic. Honestly, we have no idea what’s in it.

What’s it like?

What sets this apart from any other product we’ve used to do the same job is the way in which it’s all foamy. Normally a quick detailer or spray will simply be a liquid that sits on the droppings, you wait a few seconds for it to soak in then try and wipe it off.

The foam is much lighter so doesn’t run as badly and seems to help loosen the bird poop quicker.

It did take two sprays to get the really stubborn stuff off, but the rest of the lighter, whiter droppings simply wiped off with a single application and barely any force.

Note that when doing this you’re best to not use any force whatsoever. Anything in the droppings can mark the paintwork if you start scrubbing at it, let the liquid do the hard work and gently rub the cloth in a single motion, one way, until the bird lime comes off.

Where can I get some?

As with our last review Supagard are distributing this one in house, so you’ll have to head on over to their shop to buy some.

The bird & bug remover comes in at £12.95 with £3.95 postage, so it’s probably worth combining it with some of the other bits if you’re placing an order.
