Volkswagen have announced pricing and details for the new mark 8 Golf which is available to order from tomorrow.
The trim level line-up remains the same starting with the S and rising through SE, SE Nav, GT, R-Line, GTE, GTE Advance, e-Golf, GTD and GTD BlueLine to GTI, GTI Performance and the R.
The entry-level Golf S 1.0 TSI 85 PS three-door will retain the same starting price of £17,625 and will go all the way up to £31,865.00 for the Golf R 2.0 TSI BMT Manual.
Exterior design updates include new front and rear bumpers, new headlights with LED daytime running lights or full LED headlights, new front wings and full LED rear lights which come as standard for all Golfs.
There’s also new alloy designs and paint colours . The interior sees less of the freshen up with new trim panels and materials only been updated.
The mark 8 Golf gets a new Discover Navigation Pro radio-navigation and online system that’s operated with gesture control. The system is displayed on a 9.2” screen.
There’s also a boost in assistance systems and the new Golf comes with Emergency Braking with new pedestrian monitoring, Traffic Jam Assist that provides semi-automated driving at speeds of up to 37 mph and Emergency Assist.
Engines have been tweaked as well. The base petrol engine (1.0 TSI with 85 PS) has a combined fuel consumption of 58.9 mpg.
The new Golf sees the introduction of a new turbocharged petrol 1.5 TSI Evo four-cylinder engine. It produces 150 PS and features Active Cylinder Management.
The Golf GTI now produces 230 PS and the GTI Performance with 245 PS. The Golf R is more powerful than ever with 310 PS and can do 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds.
A new 7-speed DSG has been introduced with the new Golf.
All Golfs will also come with BlueMotion Tech such as a stop-start and a mode for storing braking energy.
