Volkswagen unveil 2017 Golf

Volkswagen have unveiled the 2017 facelift Golf which is expected in April 2017.

Exterior shows little change from the previous model but there little updates such as redesigned cooling openings in the lower part of the bumper and full LED tail lights.

It’s the interior that’s seen all the attention. The 2017 Golf introduces a new Active Info Display which supports gesture control – the first in its class. Base model cars will come with a 6.5” touchscreen and top of the range will come with a 9.2” display.

The Golf will come with Active Info Display which is a fully digital instrument cluster with numerous interactive functions. All of the instruments are displayed virtually on a 12.3” display.

The equipment offered with the “Discover Pro” system includes an amp, DVD drive, two USB ports, two SD card slots, Aux socket, 10 GB SSD drive, movie player, jukebox, podcast player, proximity sensor and voice control as well as sat-nav.

Golf’s in car safety systems have also seen a boost. The systems included are Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, Front Assist, City Emergency Braking, Trailer Assist and Park Assist.

With the high amount of systems on offer, Volkswagen have abled the key to be an ID so the systems don’t have to be restored each time there’s a change of driver.

The 2017 sees introduction of new 1.5 TSI Evo engine – a 150 PS four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with Active Cylinder Management. It produces just 110 g/km CO2 and maximum torque of 250 Nm.

There’s an introduction of a new 7 speed dual clutch DSG gearbox which will replace the current 6 speed DSG gearboxes.

Volkswagen have also improved the performance of the Golf GTI with the 2017 update. The power will see a 10PS increase to 230 PS.The new Golf GTI Performance has risen to 245 PS.
