Well we all knew it was coming, but it has finally landed.
The new Porsche Boxster 718 editions are powered by turbo charged flat four engines.
Starting off with the Boxster performance comes from a 2.0 litre turbo charged engine sat in active mounts. This produces 300 HP and 380 Nm of torque, spec it with a PDK gearbox and you can hit 62 in 4.9 seconds and on to 170 MPH.
Not to be outdone, the Boxster S gets a slightly bigger 2.5 litre engine and pushes out 350 HP and 420 Nm of torque. This will get you to 62 a fraction quicker at 4.4 with the PDK and 4.2 with launch control.
Both start off as manual but can be optioned with Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe – PDK. Naturally they are both still mid engined, rear wheel drive.
You can also spec the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) that lowers the car 10mm as well as a PASM Sport Suspension that lowers ride heigh twice as much on the 718 Boxster S.
You also now get discreet Porsche badging that appears when the spoiler rises (at 74 MPH – take note) and full LED rear lights. Up front you get some nice black headlights with the signature square 4 LED running lights and the whole design in general becomes more slippery in appearance.
Inside hasn’t been left out and the newly designed cockpit comes with a 918 inspired steering wheel, fitted with a Sports Response Button.
Both models are on sale as of now, the Boxster 718 comes in at £41,739 whilst the Boxster S is a slightly more heady £50,695.
