Fiat to make C-Segment comeback with the Tipo

13 Oct , 2015

Fiat have announced a new c-segment car to their lineup; the Tipo.

The Tipo is aiming at value-for-money with a straightforward model range. Tipo was first announced (unnamed) at the Istanbul motor show earlier this year and is a part Fiat’s Aegea Project.

Fiat is bringing back the Tipo name after first being used in the late 80s with its small family hatchback car.

The new Fiat Tipo is a 4.5 metres in length and has 510 litres of boot space. The Italian make states that the car will fit five passengers and their luggage “with ease”.

Fiat’s simplification with the Tipo’s model range sees just two petrol and two diesel engines to choose from. Inside the car, a high quality and well built cabin features a touch screen with the Uconnect infotainment system, hands-free Bluetooth, audio streaming, rear parking camera and TomTom sat-nav.

The car will be built in Turkey in Fiat’s Bursa plant. The Tipo will go under the Aegea name in Turkey.

At the moment it’s still not 100% certain that the Tipo will make it to the UK but with no current saloon in Fiat UK’s range, it might be something worth considering for Fiat.
