Lucas di Grassi took a strong second win at the Berlin Tempelhof Airport but controversy followed post-race as he was disqualified by the FIA due to a modified front wing.
The Audi Abt team had the choice to appeal the decision but didn’t due to sportsmanship reasons.
Jarno Trulli took his first Formula E pole position for the race. He initially got a good start but went too deep into turn 3 giving Lucas di Grassi the lead. From then on, Trulli found himself slipping down the pack more and more until his retirement on the penultimate lap.
Even with the best track on the calendar for overtaking chances, the race was fairly uneventful from then on with di Grassi showing a dominant performance taking his second win since the opening race in Beijing.
Joining Di Grassi on the podium were Jerome d’Ambrosio for the first time in Formula E and Sebastien Buemi who started from sixth on the grid.
But with Di Grassi’s disqualification meant Jerome d’Ambrosio was awarded his first win with Buemi second and Nelson Piquet Jr. third.
For the driver’s championship, this means Piquet Jr leads with only 2 points over Buemi and Di Grassi now finds himself in third.
The next race takes place in Moscow in two weeks time on the 6th of June.
