The all new Nissan Pulsar is the hot new hatchback in the Nissan family, priced from £15,995 and will compete directly with the overall hatchback market. The Pulsar will feature the familiar V-shaped grille and LED daytime running lights which are available on various other Nissan models.
The standard 1.2-litre DIG-T engine comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, and produces a healthy 115 bhp which is very impressive from a 1.2-litre engine.
If petrol doesn’t suit your fancy and you decide you want to opt for the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine you will be greeted with 110 bhp and a huge increase in fuel efficiency. In addition to this the diesel engine will produce a very impressive 74 mpg and is capable of CO2 emissions below 95g/km, which means road tax will be considerably cheap if not completely free of charge.
It is rumoured that there will be a special Nismo engineered 1.6-litre turbo (186bhp) engine joining the range in early 2015.
As for features compared to its rivals the new Pulsar is packed full; this includes 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity and cruise control, five-inch touchscreen infotainment centre, cruise control, electric mirrors, tyre pressure monitoring system, remote central locking and air conditioning all come as standard.
There are a range of different models available with optional extras at an increased price; Nissan Safety Shield technology is available at the top of the tree in the Pulsar Tekna model, including moving object detection, lane departure and blind spot warning.
The cabin in the new Pulsar has been has been completely remodeled to portray a luxurious and sophisticated feeling, the steering wheel, gear lever, instrument cluster and central display have been taken from the ever popular Qashqai. Whilst chrome and black trim along the interior make this a very special place to sit.
