Skoda? Black roof? Must be time for another Monte Carlo edition from the Czech marque, and this time on the roulette wheel is the Yeti.
Jokes aside the Monte Carlo range has been a huge success for VAG’s friendliest arm, the Fabia and CitiGo derivatives now being a regular fixture on our street.
The Yeti too has been a resounding victory for Skoda, so the logical conclusion is to mash the two together to create the £24,390 Yeti Monte Carlo.
As with the CitiGo launched earlier this year the Yeti’s homage to the famous rally gets the mid range SE trim level.
The black roof and 17-inch ‘origami’ alloys signal it’s a Monte Carlo, as do the small badges carrying the name that adorn the sides.
There’s also black touches on the grille and spoiler, rear diffuser (yes, rear diffuser) and door mirrors.
Under the bonnet is the 167bhp 2.0-litre TDI CR diesel motor and the Yeti’s usual 4×4 transmission is mated to a choice of six speed manual or, if you’re feeling as racy as that diffuser, a six-speed dual clutch job.
Available in black, red, white, silver or grey prices rise to £25,490 if you choose the DSG ‘box.
The manual version will manage a not overly impressive 49.6mpg, with 149 g/km of CO2 emissions and a 0-62mph time of 8.4 seconds. The DSG drops to 44.8 mpg, 164 g/km and 8.6 seconds.
Inside, the Monte Carlo comes with a three-spoke leather ‘Supersport’ multi-function steering wheel. The sports seats and interior will be splattered with Monte Carlo detailing.
If you remember the Fabia’s success in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, don’t have the money for a VRS and have children, the Yeti Monte Carlo is available now.
