However, for those of you new to either a: the site, or b: the series itself – this coming weekend features the jewel in the crown of the series, the 24 Hours of Spa.
Now, the only thing we at Carwitter love more that a GT race is a 24 Hour GT race and so far this season we have been spoiled with some great racing at both Le Mans, and the Nurburgring a week later.
With Spa being one of the best tracks on the face of the planet, and with a mouth watering entry list this promises to be just as good as what has preceded both in twice round the clock enduros and the Blancpain season itself.
Well you could do worse than to read our own preview of the season to get you up to speed here.
Series regulars aside, the big news is that one of the WRT Audi R8s will have the Le Mans winning crew of Lotterer, Treluyer and Fassler aiming to repeat their success of 6 weeks or so previous.
Marc VDS Racing will make their only start in the category this time out and be looking for a better run than they got at the ‘Ring last month, don’t write them off either for a strong showing against squads they are more than a match for.
With the race being 24 hours a few more familiar faces have been drafted in to keep the racing close and fast throughout the event, plenty of capable GT drivers will be lending their services along with a few who you may not have expected.
Australian V8 Supercar racer, 3 time series champion and 5 time Bathurst winner Craig Lowndes has been drafted in to the AF Course Pro Am Squad, making his first trip to Spa since the late 90’s in his F3000 days, Lowndes is no stranger to GT racing however having shared the winning Ferrari in the 2104 Bathurst 12hr race.
Also competing is the reigning French GT champion, and former Manchester United and France goal keeper Fabien Barthez, hoping to build on his 29th/9th in class finish in the Le Mans 24 hour.
