Fiat have had huge success with the Panda 4×4, so much so they are releasing a beefed up model, dubbed the Panda Cross.
As standard it features a new ‘Torque-on-Demand’ system, this uses the Electronic Locking Diff and the Electronic Stability Control system to manage and distribute the power in demanding situations.
You use the system via the Terrain Response selector, it has three different modes to choose from:
The Panda Cross sits on larger 185/65R15 tyres to help with traction. Suspension has also been revised, with the rear setup incorporating the all wheel drive mechanism to save weight. It now has a maximum ground clearance of 16 CM, 15 CM for the TwinAir Turbo engines.
A new 0.9 TwinAir Turbo engine now produces 90 HP and 145Nm of torque, or 100Nm at 2,000 rpm in ‘Eco’ mode. Combined MPG is 57.6 and CO2 emissions of 114g/km.
It comes equipped with a six-speed manual transmission with a unique first-gear ratio that was specifically engineered with off-road driving in mind.
The 1.3 MultiJet II turbo-diesel delivers a maximum power output of 80 GP and a generous 190Nm of torque. Combined MPG is 60.1 and its CO2 emissions are just 125g/km.
On the outside the Panda Cross gets beefier looks thanks to a new front bumper with integrated fog lights. LED DRL’s are built into the skid plate. Wheel arch extensions bulge out of the sides along with side mouldings featuring the ‘Cross’ logo. Up top a smart set of satin finished roof bars complete the look.
New rear lights, a chrome exhaust and skid plate complete the new look rear.
Inside you find a leather trimmed steering wheel as standard, a copper fascia dashboard and climate control; Blue&Me™ connectivity; electric door mirrors; and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.
