After a long 6 year wait Nissan finally have a road ready Nismo spec GTR.
Pushing 591 HP from its 3.8 litre V6 VR38DETT engine, it uses high flow, large diameter turbos taken straight from the GT3 race car. Individual ignition timing control is used for each cylinder, an upgraded fuel pump has also been added. Torque has now grown to a heady 652 Nm.
Inspiration from the GT3 race car hasnt stopped there, the Nismo GTR’s suspension has been tuned for agility and improved road holding and handling. Bilstein DampTronic dampers have also been tuned, with 3 selectable modes: Comfort, Normal and R.
Exclusive tyres have been developed with Dunlop, fronts are: 255/40 ZRF20; while the rears get 285/35 ZRF20.
A 17.3mm hollow anti-roll bar has been fitted to the rear raising roll stiffness and reducing weight. High G cornering is also improved thanks to special links in the front double wishbone and high rigidity bolts used in the wheel hub attachment.
Adhesive has been used with spot welding to make the already stiff bodyshell even stiffer.
Nissan have also created an additional 100KG of downforce through a new aerodynamic package. A new wider front bumper, engine under cover, carbon rear spoiler and tapered but elongated rear bumper mean the Nismo GT-R has a drag to Cd 0.26.
Alcantara covers the steering wheel and instrument hood, whilst carbon fibre backed reclining RECARO seats will be standard in the EU and Japan. Red stitching covers the seats, centre console, door trim and steering wheel.
Five body colors will be available: Brilliant White Pearl, Meteor Flake Pearl Black, Ultimate Metallic Silver and Vibrant Red. And unique to the GT-R Nismo model, a Dark Matte Grey.
GT1 racer Michael Krumm has just set a 7:08.69 Nurburgring Lap time, the fastest for a Volume production car.
A further more hardcore Track Pack will also be available, cost is not yet known but it will replace several parts with Carbon Fibre ones, saving around 64KG. Further chassis changes and manually adjustable Ohlins shocks will also feature.
The Nissan GT-R Nismo will go on sale in the US and Europe in late 2014. Price TBA but expect circa £120,000.
