Flash For Crash Car Insurance Fraud - carwitter

Motorists are being warned about a new car insurance scam being employed by criminals.

At a junction they will flash their headlights to let you pull out, but as soon as you do they accelerate, hit you then deny flashing their headlights.

As the highway code states:

Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users.

Many road users aren’t aware of this, and flash users as a thank you, or to signal that they can pull out in front of them.
