Volkswagen CrossBlue Concept

Volkswagen has unveiled a new SUV concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.  Called the CrossBlue, it has been developed specifically for the U.S. and Canada, and if it goes into production would sit above the Tiguan and below the Touareg in the Volkswagen SUV line-up.

The details are:

  • Plug in Hybrid
  • Couples a TDI with two electric motors
  • 305PS and 700Nm of torque
  • 0-60 in 7.0 seconds
  • Top speed of 127MPH or 75MPH in electric mode
  • 2.1 litres per 100KM
  • Equals to 134.5mpg (89 in combined and 35 in hybrid)
  • 20 mile electric only range
  • Batterys charged by the engine when moving
  • Designed in Germany
  • 4,987 mm long, 2015mm wide and 1,733mm high
  • Track of 1,686mm front and 1,969mm rear
  • 21″ alloy wheels
  • Twin fuel caps one for diesel one for electric
  • Six seats in three rows, option to make it a 7 seater
  • 947mm of legroom in the middle row
  • 915mm of legroom in the back row
  • 335 litres of boot space
  • Fold the rear seats and that grows to 815 litres increasing to 2000 litres if the middle row is folded
  • Hidden controls for lights, climate control and 4WD system
  • Aluminium is predominant on the interior
  • 10.2 inch touchscreen in the dash
  • iPad minis are fitted in the back of each front head rest
