Mercedes have announced the spec and pricing of its new mammoth GL 4×4. Production will start in January 2013.

The specs are as follows:

  • New GL is 21mm longer and 10mm taller than the outgoing model
  • Boot capacity is increased by 60 litres
  • GL 350 BlueTEC AMG Sport from £59,465
  • GL 350 BlueTEC will achieve 35.3mpg, with CO2 of 209g/km
  • GL 350 BlueTEC has 258hp and 620Nm of torque, 0-62 in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 137MPH
  • GL 350 now has bi-xenon and LED DRLS’s, AMG styling, 21” AMG light alloys, privacy glass, electric glass sunroof, AirMATIC air suspension with Active Park Assist, COMAND online with media interface and a DAB tuner
  • Third row folds automatically to allow greater access
  • Two new paint colours Cavansite Blue and Cinnabar Red
  • New safety feature Crosswind Assist – works with ESP to automatically brake the car to keep it on course after a strong gust of crosswind
  • GL 63 AMG from £91,680
  • GL 63 AMG will achieve 23mpg, with a CO2 288g/km
  • GL 63 AMG has 557hp and 760Nm of torque, 0-62 in just 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 155MPH
  • GL 63 includes flared wheel arches, 21” AMG five twin spoke light alloys in titatnium grey, AMG braking system, Active Curve System with AirMATIC to compensate body roll, AMG sports exhaust system with chrome twin tailpipes
  • GL 63 AMG has sports seats, front and second row heated seats, multi-contour front seats with massage function; and luxury automatic climate control
